You’ve just finished an exhausting training session, be it in martial arts, cycling, running or lifting weights, and you need to consume protein as quickly as possible. You don’t want a whey protein shake, instead you want something with substance; something that you can get your teeth into and enjoy. Something like a chocolate bar, only healthier. Well, there’s just the thing…

In this review, I’ll be giving my verdict on the Bodybuilding Warehouse Premium Lux Protein Flapjacks.

Bodybuilding Warehouse Premium Lux Protein Flapjack

Available in boxes of 12, the Bodybuilding Warehouse Premium Lux Protein Flapjacks are available in 75g chocolate chunk flavoured bars. Measuring at 1.5 inches wide, 5 inches long and 0.5 inches thick (approximately), the bars are individually wrapped making them handy to throw in your gym bag ready to consume during or straight after training.

The Lux flapjack bars are extremely appetising to look at. You can smell the chocolate flavouring as soon as you peel off the wrapper and boy oh boy do they look delicious. Their nobbly, uneven textured appearance makes me want to bite into them straight away. Packed with honey toasted oats, you can spot the real chunks of white chocolate scattered throughout, often breaking through to the surface.

Biting into the Bodybuilding Warehouse Lux Flapjacks, the texture is soft and chewy with a filling thickness to it. There’s a distinct chocolate taste to the bar too – not too overpowering but plenty enough to satisfy any chocolate craving you might have. The white chocolate pieces are especially crunchy and may be my favourite part of consuming one of these protein flapjack bars. Even after you’ve swallowed the pieces of the Lux bar, the chocolate aftertaste remains. Yum!

These bars are not suitable for those who have allergies to oats, milk, soya, gluten, egg, nuts and peanuts.

Per 75g bar, the Lux flapjacks provide 1041kJ / 248kcal of energy, 20g of protein, 33.5g of carbohydrates (3.4g of which are sugars, 13.8g of which are polyols), 4.2g of fat (1.4g of which are saturates), 8.9g of dietary fibre and 0.13g of sodium. Each bar provides 26.6% protein.

Overall Opinion

After a hard slog at Ju-Jitsu, I cannot wait to tear open a Bodybuilding Warehouse Lux Protein Flapjack. It’s so tasty and the texture of the bar itself is so delightful just to even chew that I think I’ve found myself slightly addicted. A good food product should satisfy not just in taste and these Lux Flapjacks certainly hit the mark. They satisfy all the major senses: taste, texture, smell and appearance. They might not make a sound but the crunch of the white chocolate chunks is enough to tick all the boxes!

The Lux flapjacks are an absolute pleasure to devour and trust me, that’s what you’ll end up doing as soon as you taste one for the first time. They’re moist, not dry, which means the chocolate goodness oozes out with a good 20g of protein per serving to repair and grow the muscles and 8.9g of fibre to aid digestion. These are one of those protein bars that you’ll find hard to put down and before you know it, you’ll be ordering more.

These Lux bars have definitely entered my top 5 protein bars of choice.
