Guide To WalkingPad Treadmills

People lead busy lives nowadays. Getting in daily exercise can be difficult especially if you work in an office or you’re stuck behind a desk every day working from home.

To try and combat this problem, walking treadmills, also known as walking pad treadmills, have launched onto the market which target people who want to stretch their legs but don’t have the time to go out for a walk or a jog, or are perhaps unable to go to the gym to train. Most importantly, they’re for people who are short on space in their home but who want to squeeze in a bit of physical activity as and when they feel like it.

Considerably smaller in size than your traditional treadmills, walking pads can easily fit under a desk thanks to not being lumbered with all the heavy machinery, frame and mechanics you’d typically find with your standard ones. If you use a standing desk to use the computer, the low profile walking pad can easily be rolled out in the office so that you can exercise whilst you work! Or perhaps you’d rather use it in the evening in the comfort of your own home to get those steps in – beats getting wet if it’s raining outside, plus you don’t run the risk of stepping in dog muck either!

As the walking pads are foldable, they’re small enough to store and can be easily moved and transported if need be when not in use.  This is an attractive attribute as you may not have room at your home or apartment to store a standard treadmill, however with this lightweight alternative, you don’t need to worry about that.

You may be thinking “well, it doesn’t have the controls that a normal treadmill has” but that’s where you’re wrong. Many of these walking pad treadmills connect to an app on your phone so you can monitor your progress whilst a handy remote will allow you to control the speed of the walking treadmill.

King Smith WalkingPads one of the most popular brands of folding treadmills on the market today.

The King Smith Walking Pad P1 Treadmill is perfect for home use or in the office. With the walking area measuring 41.5cm in width by 120cm in length, this treadmill provides enough surface area for a walking workout but is small enough to comfortably fit in your room with a low profile to boot. When not in use, the P1 WalkingPad can be folded into a tidy half metre squared so that it can be easily stored, such as underneath a bed or sofa. This is definitely an ideal choice for those people who don’t have the space for a full size treadmill but are still looking for some sort of exercise benefit. The treadmill weighs 28kg so it’s not exactly lightweight but with wheels integrated in the base, this helps you to move it around to your desired location.

The P1 WalkingPad Treadmill utilises app technology so you can control speed at the touch of an button using the app. It will also provide important metrics such as how many steps you’ve taken, the length of time you’ve been using it for, the speed, distance travelled and how many calories you’ve burned. Alternatively, you can use the supplied remote control to adjust the speed settings, change mode and turn the WalkingPad on or off. The treadmill itself even has an automatic function built in to recognise if you want to go faster or slower depending on where you position yourself on the belt. On Automatic mode, moving closer to the front will increase the speed whereas if you head towards the back of the belt, the walking treadmill will decrease in speed. The P1 WalkingPad can handle 100kg in weight and has speed setting of 0.5-6km/h which makes it great for walking, speed walking or a gentle jog.

If you’ve got kids or pets, the P1 has a handy child lock facility so that the remote cannot be used to operate the treadmill. The only way to unlock it is via the app.

If you’re buying the P1 from Europe, you can buy directly from the King Smith website.

King Smith WalkingPad R1

The King Smith WalkingPad R1 shares similarities with the P1 but is suited for those who demand more out of their walking treadmill. For a start, the top speed on the R1 is 10km which means you can use this particular model for running as well as walking, with the speed increasing in increments of 0.5 from 0.5km/h.

With the treadmill’s integrated handrail frame, which folds out from the base, you can monitor your stats with the LED display readout on the base frame which will tell you the distance ‘travelled’, calories burned, duration and more. It even has a slot so you can stand you phone or tablet up in the frame whilst you run or walk. Like all good running treadmills, it also has an emergency auto-stop function with a clip which you can attach to yourself, so if for any reason you fall or come off, the clip will pull out of the WalkingPad handrail and will stop.

Like the P1, the King Smith R1 WalkingPad is foldable and has integrated wheels to make moving the treadmill around easier. It’s heavier at 41kg but is only 3.5cm wider than the P1, with the running area measuring 44cm x 120cm. It can also cater for heavier people, up to 110kg.

For those who like to run but may not live in a suitable area for jogging, or would like to run regardless of the weather outside, then the King Smith R1 WalkingPad is worth considering. The fact it’s such a compact size still makes it an attractive choice for the home.
